New Iridium has been awarded two prestigious EnergyWerx Vouchers by the U.S. Department of Energy to accelerate the commercialization of its bio-based acetic acid and ethyl acetate platform. These awards support the company’s mission to deliver sustainable, low-carbon alternatives to fossil-derived chemicals.
Voucher Opportunity 1: Pre-Demonstration Commercialization Support
Under VO-1: Case Studies for the Decarbonization of Technologies and Supply Chains (Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations - OCED), New Iridium will collaborate with Idaho National Laboratory to conduct strategic business development and in-depth market research. This initiative focuses on identifying early adopters and downstream market opportunities for bio-acetic acid and bio-ethyl acetate.
Voucher Opportunity 2: Performance Validation, Modeling, and Certification Support
As part of VO-2: Scale-Up Planning, Support, and Custom Process Toolbox Development for Emerging Chemical Technologies (OCED), New Iridium is partnering with ONB Engineering Research to perform detailed process modeling for a proposed 50,000 metric tons per year commercial-scale facility. The study will emphasize critical engineering challenges, including:
Product purification and separation strategies
Catalyst regeneration and optimization
Heat recovery and energy integration
These projects represent key milestones in New Iridium’s commercialization roadmap and will inform both the technical design and market deployment strategy of its scalable, low-carbon production platform.
